New regulations from the Biden Administration are threatening Colstrip. The new EPA regulations would require upgrades that would raise Montanans’ electric bills by $1,000 per year or force the plant to close. The Colstrip Powe Plant is in full compliance with the Clean Air Act and these new burdensome regulations are designed to appease liberal environmental groups that want to end the used of coal power.
